US Report: Most companies have no control over sensitive data

The majority of businesses don't have a solid system for tracking sensitive data, or a mature patch management process, according to new survey of IT professionals released by Trustwave. "If you don't know where your data is -- your sensitive data, your critical data, data that you use to operate your business -- then how can you protect it?"

 

European Parliament resolution on TTIP

The European Parliament is going to adopt a Resolution on TTIP. A resolution is a political statement which does not have binding effects. However, a strong resolution from the Parliament could be a step in the right direction.

The Committee on International Trade (INTA) is in charge of the dossier and it will be guided by Opinions from 14 other Committees before it submits its report to Plenary (vote scheduled 18-21 May).

National Digital Council issues opinion on the draft Digital Bill

According to the National Digital Council (NDC), the draft Digital Bill is one of the phases of the digital strategy of the government. It was developed following wide and innovative public consultation launched in October 2014 by the Prime Minister and conducted by the NDC. This bill represents a way for the government to relaunch national growth and development for businesses, citizens and for the country itself. The NDC considers that the bill aims to have everyone take advantage of the benefits offered by the digital.

 

Privacy concerns regarding Dutch UBO register

On June 9, two major Dutch business lobby organizations expressed privacy concerns in a letter to the Minister of Economic Affairs and the Minister of Security and Justice (source document in Dutch) regarding the implementation of the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive. The Directive requires EU member states to establish a register of ultimate beneficiary owners ("UBOs"), which would contain information about persons holding at least 25 percent of the voting rights or capital interest in a company.
