Internet Governance is a broad term that includes the development of norms and principals relating to how the Internet functions by a group of stakeholders including governments, organizations, and commissions and the regulation and administration of those principals by the parties involved. (see ICANN wiki). For this table's purposes, we are mainly looking at European national actors involved in Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) activities.
The table is indicating if several European countries governments are members in ICANN’s Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) who is institution responsible for the Governement representation in ICANN. It also looks if any European countries- based NGOs are involved in At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) from ICANN’s. ALAC is a network of self-organizing and self-supporting At-Large Structures (ALSes) throughout the world involving individual Internet users at the local or issue level. At-Large is the name for the community of individual Internet users who participate in the policy development work of ICANN.
